Phoenix's 17 Point Plan

After deciding to design an environmentally friendly and carbon neutral hotel I began researching case studies on GreenSource.  I was excited and surprised to find an article about Phoenix and how in 2009 Mayor Phil Gordon worked with ASU to develop a 17 point plan to make Phoenix one of the first carbon neutral cities.  This is an extremely difficult and large plan due to the fact that Phoenix expanded enormously with suburban sprawl from 1990 because of the large supply of open inexpensive land.  Developers were building left and right until the fall of the economy starting in 2008 hit the developing and construction sector of the state extremely hard.  Everything came to a halt for a couple years and is now just coming back around.  Finding this information, I discovered that Phoenix does not have a environmentally friendly green hotel.  I'm definitely going to look for abandoned or historical buildings along the new successful light rail line stretching from tempe to mesa.
