Design Studies

I've been recently looking at successful luxury hotel designs and finding characteristics that I like within each.

- bringing the natural surrounding into the interior

- Open Concept
- unique use of light
-natural materials
ESPA by Hirsch Bender
-use of natural material in a modern way

-open concept
- private views
- use of stone material

I have been looking at example with these traits because through my research I have decided that the design of the hotel and other spaces needs to complement and bring the Arizona landscape into the interior.  This can be done through the use of natural materials and use of light.  Another important part of the design needs to be about the mill itself and showing its original design.  The parti and geometry of the mill is very symmetrical and open due to the concept of factories in the early twentieth century.  Therefore, the interior of the design needs to continue the characteristics of 19th century factory design.  This includes the use of ventilation, natural light, and open interior.
